Quail Creek Ranch is +/-1,124 acres consisting of varied topography including rolling hills, canyons, plateaus, and mountains. Noonday Canyon runs through the ranch. This canyon produces a seasonal stream and is a major tributary of the Mimbres River. It is said that in the days when Kingston and Pinos Altos were booming mining camps, people traveling between the two always tried to arrive at this canyon and its reliable water at noon, hence the name.
This location is sought after for its mild, four-season climate. The elevation of the ranch varies between 5,973 and 6,600 feet. Vegetation consists of native grasses including side oats grama, and blue grama as major species. Canyons and hillsides are lined with mature pinon, juniper and oak.
This ranch has the potential for many different uses including agricultural, equestrian, and/or hunting. It may also make a great investment property, as it has been surveyed into several parcels.
The Headquarters features a ranch style home that is approximately 2000 Square feet and has 3 bedrooms and 2 remodeled bathrooms (Jacuzzi Tub, Italian tile). There is a cabin on the property that is a 2 bedroom-1 bath built in 1991. Outside near the cabin is a steel double door barn and steel storage shed. There is a set of working pens near the cabin and some corrals near the main home. The ranch has two wells. Each well has declared 3-acre feet of water rights for domestic and livestock use, and both produce approximately 10 GPM. Access to the ranch is via maintained county rd.
Quail Creek Ranch is in Game Management Unit 24. This property has an abundance of Mule Deer. Coues Deer are also present in the area. Grant County holds several of the typical and non-typical Boone and Crocket Coues Deer records per NM Game and Fish. This area is also home to Gambles and Montezuma Quail, Dove, Turkey, Mountain Lion and Bear.
